Necklace, possibly made from human hair. A condemned man was said to have cut off his pigtail and fashioned it into a necklace as a gift for his executioner. Such gifts were said to be normal practice. Necklace has central motif of winged insect with four dangling objects

Brought back from China by the donor's father before 1916. He was told that a condemned man would cut off his pigtail and fashion it into a a gift for his executioner. Such gifts were said to be normal practice. The donor was uncertain of the veracity of the story.
