Box used to store an individual’s supply of gold dust. It would have been kept alongside a set of items used in gold dust transactions, including scales, a brass scoop, a spoon, a stone for checking the purity of the gold, a chicken feather for collecting finer dust, and a selection of weights.
These objects are only a part of our collections, of which there are more than 350,000 objects. This information comes from our collections database.
