Model double-ended logboat with lateen sail. The hull is dugout (hollowed out log) with six thwarts, five at one end with one acting as a mast step and one thwart at the other. There are two holes bored in the side of the hull – possibly for an outrigger.
This model was exhibited at the British Empire Exhibition, held at Wembley in 1924 and 1925. This particular model was displayed in 1924, presumably in the Indian section. The exhibition displayed a range of exhibits from various territories within Britain’s empire at the time with the aim to strengthen relations and trade.
