One of seven papercuts from Shandong province. Depicts in red two mandarin ducks in a lotus pond within a peach panel. Made using knife-cutting technique, pasted on cream paper. Mandarin ducks, yin yan, in pairs are traditionally associated with marital devotion and affection in China. When depicted in a lotus pond, the association symbolises marital harmony and bearing of many sons, as the lotus has many seeds.
