
One of eleven papercuts from Yangzhou in Jiangsu province. A red papercut depicting a peony spray encircled by a band of butterflies alternating with orchid designs. The peony, mudan, is a symbol of riches and nobility and is thus commonly called 'fuguihua', or Flower of Wealth and Honour, and is known as the King of Flowers. Done using knife-cutting technique, pasted on cream paper.
