blouse; textile

Sleeveless, muslin blouse with silk embroidery. The beige coloured ground is embroidered all over with a large, repeating pattern, of a cross within a square. The arms of the cross are embroidered with silver coloured metal-wrapped thread. This cross is 'superimposed' onto a light or mid-green 'x' motif. The corners of the 'x' have been embroidered with metal-wrapped thread and two tones of brown silk to resemble 'tumbling blocks'. The neck and arm holes are crocheted with dark brown silk and the sides of the textile are crocheted together with metal-wrapped thread.
