A basket that is made of plant material using a plaited basketry technique. The body of the basket is square and the neck and opening is round. Around the opening are wide rings to reinforce the structure. There is a twisted fibre handle that is attached to the opening of the basket. There are two decorative bands at the top of the body.

Used for carrying the tools of a collector of palm sap. The palm sap would then be used for making arrack, which is an alcoholic drink.

These objects are only a part of our collections, of which there are more than 350,000 objects. This information comes from our collections database.
