


Brown glazed ceramic spirit flask with moulded figure decoration. The figure and inscription relate to 'Mrs Caudle's Curtain Lectures', first published in the magazine 'Punch' in 1845. One side is decorated with figures in relief of a man and a woman in bed, and is inscribed 'MR & MRS CAUDLE / No Mr Caudle / I shall not go to sleep / like a good little soul / See Punch'. On the other side is a figure in relief of a lady holding an umbrella, inscribed 'Miss Prettyman'. The base is stamped 'DOULTON & WATTS / LAMBETH POTTERY / LONDON'.
