German dog collar, made from brass, dated to the eighteenth century. The collar is in three sections, which are hinged, each with a specific decorative design. Briefly, the designs consist of: a human face surrounded by foliage and plant-like patterns appears on the smallest panel; the middle panel featuring the lettering '.I.F.vW.' with floral scrolls above and below; the final panel features the date '1778', again surrounded by floral scrolls to top and bottom.
