Container designed like a book, containing 12 plaster cameos, entitled 'Uomini illustri' (famous men), in fact all writers. The book has wooden boards and is bound in red leather. The cameos are made of white plaster and decorated with gold leaf. Each has a number written on the side. A handwritten inscription in Italian on the inside cover of the box lists the identity of each man depicted. They include Plato, Cicero, Virgil, Socrates, and Tacitus. Below this the inscription reads: 'Si fanno in Roma do Paoletti Mastrozzi via condotti N. 82'.
