



Figure of Ganapate or Ganesha made of carved dark stone. Each of his four hands holds an attribute: upper left a noose; upper right a club; lower left sweetemat; lower right in a mudra. He is sitting on a rectangular stepped pedestal, and is surrounded by a decorative arch with at the apex a kirthimukha. A garland hangs from his lower left arm below his body and ends on the right. The reverse of the body is also carved. His vehicle the rat appears at each side of the pedestal. Inscription on the reverse reads: 'GANAPATE' at the top. Lower down '1885. CHITALDROOG.
