vase (ritual & belief: religious buildings & furnishings); altar vessel

Pewter altar vase cast in the form of a rectangular tube tapering to a bulging section, mounted on a pedestal base with stylised cloud-shaped feet. It is part of an altar set of five items. Both the base and the interior impressed with two marks: 1. 'Zhang hong fa yuan' (maker's mark), 'originating from Zhang hong fa'. 2. 'dian xi bao yong' (hallmark), 'made of tin alloy'.
