Iron kettle, tetsubin 鉄瓶, with semicircular handle above and bronze lid. The upper part of the body curves outwards from the top like an inverted bowl, then there is a horizontal inverted 'ledge' with a bowl-shaped lower part. The body has a rough texture, with four characters on one side, reading: 'bamboo, wind, fire and ??'. On the other side is a decorative motif of bamboo leaves and stems. Probably Meiji period.
