Circular shield from India, with a welded lip and four bosses hiding rivets which secure the velvet-covered pad for the fingers to the shield. The whole of the front is inlaid with black lacquer, leaving the floral pattern to stand out in the brass. One of the bosses is missing from the front, but retained.
