Queen Soopylat

Carved and painted wooden figure of Queen Supayalat, the former queen of Burma. Her longyi has an extra panel at the back, which trails along the floor. It is painted with a faded pattern of horizontal floral bands. She wears a jacket with upturned 'wings' at the waist, and a gold lattice bodice up to the neck. The jacket has gold borders. There is a pink shoulder cloth over the right shoulder, and she has an elaborate hair arrangement or headdress, in black. 'Queen Soopylat (ex Queen of Burma)' is written on the plinth, which is square but for the corners cut off.
