A Nun (Burmese)

Carved and painted wooden figure of a Burmese nun wearing a white robe, which is draped from the left shoulder over a long undergarment. A book held in right the hand. The figure is acompanied by a separate umbrella, which may have fitted in left hand. She has a shaven head. A decorative pattern is indicated by painted dots around edges of her garment. 'A Nun (Burmese)' is written on the plinth, which is square but for the corners cut off.
