tablet; casts

Fake Egyptian tablet in raised relief depicting Amon-Ra with arm raised wearing double plumed headdress. Copy from Theban Temple.
Part of a text giving prayers to King Intf (name given inside the cartouche- NB only a pharaoh’s name is written in a cartouche, even god/esses names are not- their names are sometimes indicated by a snake. King Intf was an important pharaoh because he began the second process for unification after the collapse of the Old Kingdom (which would bring about the Middle Kingdom). The god with the elaborate headdress is Amon Min. The text visible is a prayer to Intf and says ‘may he be given life, power, stability, eternal protection’ (prayers for the king). Possibly based on a relief a Karnak – the oldest part of the temple dates from this time. (information given by Egyptologist, Samir Abbass)
