pipe (narcotics & intoxicants: smoking)

A pipe, carved from one piece od wood, with the bowl in the form of a human head. On the stem, a double row of heads are surmounted, a tally of heads. The pipe is decorated with poker work.

According to Vibha Joshi, the design of pipes such as this one was inspired by a French pipe that a Phom Naga man had seen during his time in the French Labour Corps in the First World War.
