Netsuke in the form of a carved ivory study of a man, his face turned to his right and smiling. In his left hand he holds a rope from which a straw bundle hangs over his left shoulder. His right hand is inside the sleeve of his jacket, which is short, reaching only to the top of his knees. His feet are bare. The ivory on the reverse is stained but the piece is nicely carved.
