Netsuke in carved water buffalo horn, with on the top a square study in relief of a noble man and woman. The man is on the left side supporting a flute with his right hand and has his left hand on the woman's shoulder. She is playing a flute and has her right hand on the man's left shoulder. The man is wearing the hat of a nobleman. The woman has a bird-shaped comb and a peony on the top of her head. The background is decorated with a basket pattern. There are three peonies on the base. Pairs of metal nails in the corners which may have been added later.
