The photograph shows the same shaman and same occasion as in previous slides ARC/BAL/002/004/001-004. The photograph shows a pole with a sheath of wheat at the top and people choose partners on this occassion as it is a festival for the harvest and for fertility. He is a village shaman and shown in the background of the photograph are local young men and the village houses.
These objects are only a part of our collections, of which there are more than 350,000 objects. This information comes from our collections database.
