One printed announcement concerning the Bank Holiday Christmas period of 1889, stating that Mr. Horniman had arranged to open the Surrey House Museum to the general public, free of charge, between Thursday, the 26th of December and Saturday, the 28th of December. Each visitor could expect to be handed a Guide Catalogue to the collections, also free of charge.
