Short newspaper article presenting a reception at Surrey Mount on Wednesday evening (unknown date/year). F. J Horniman had invited the members of the Alliance Lodge of Freemasons to attend, and more than sixty responded to the invitation. The guests started arriving after 6 p.m. at the museum, and were offered tea. They were then divided into three groups, each guided by F. J. Horniman, C. D. Watkins (naturalist), and R. Quick (curator), and proceeded to visit the museum. When the visit was concluded, the guests walked to Surrey Mount through the grounds specially illuminated for this occasion. They enjoyed a supper supplied by Bertram & Co., Crystal Palace, followed by a short musical programme.
