John Horniman was a member and a benefactor of the Society of Friends, and a contributor to a large number of charitable institutions. He was buried on Wednesday, amid the grounds surrounding the Friends’ Meeting House in Croydon, a rare honour that shows the deep respect in which he was held by his fellow Quakers.
