According to the manuscript the original titles for the book were 'The Clarinet and its Music' and 'Music and the Clarinet'. The manuscript contains both typescript and handwritten notes, contents pages, lists of suggested illustrations and diagrams of clarinet mouthpieces and other parts. Pages at the end of the manuscript appear to be timelines relating to the history of the clarinet and dates of relevant composers and musicians. The final section of the manuscript contains a list of published sources and references used.
