Typescript of a communication from F.C. Draper to Geoffrey Hawkes

The five page communication makes reference to a letter from Will Golbourn on the subject of the direction of the sound produced from upright and bell forward instruments. Draper replies that these instruments do not in fact produce sound with directional properties. He discusses the differences between wind blown instruments and horn type loud speakers in terms of sound frequencies and direction before going into detail on the behaviour of sound waves when brass instruments are played.
