Twelve-keyed clarinet in B-flat. Index card reads: Twelve brass keys, round, flat, ten mounted in blocks and two in saddles; long keys rollered. Boxwood; ivory mounts. Mouthpiece not grooved for thread ligature. Theobald Monzani worked in London between 1788 and 1829. This clarinet dates from late in that period. Check key springs and pads. Good condition. Suitable for restoration. Length overall: 650 mm, withouth mouthpiece: 592 mm; Bore at mouthpiece: 13 mm, at middle joint: 13 mm, at bell joint: 20.5 mm. Left hand joint, integral right hand/lower joint and bell have 'MONZANI/LONDON' stamp, surmounted by the device of a crown.
