Toy swanee whistle (duct flute)

This whistle was collected by Jack Body in Java in 1977. He bought it from a street seller in the town of Yogyakarta for 30 rupiah. Jack Body is a New Zealand based composer with a particular interest in the music of Indonesia. Many of his works use Western instruments to imitate the sounds of the Indonesian music that he has heard on visits to the country.
