With case, lined with green velvet and containing a metal cleaning rod. On the inside of the case is a label bearing the inscription: RUDALL CARTE & Co. LTD/23, BERNERS STREET,/LONDON.

Rudall, Carte & Co. was a firm of wind instrument makers that existed in London, under different trading names, since the early 19th century. The impresario Richard D'Oyly Carte was the son of one of the partners. The company was taken over by Boosey & Hawkes in 1955.
