Pipa. A pear-shaped, plucked, four stringed instrument of reddish brown wood throughout. The back rounded. The neck and back integral, leading to a curved backward peg-box for four hexagonal fluted pegs, surmounted by a forward facing formal decoration. The surviving frets of thin wood. The tail-piece ivory faced and glued to table. Tail-piece detached. Strings and most of frets missing. Two pegs missing.
