Some plates have red or blue colouration, suggesting recycling and corrosion. The bottom of the dome terminates is a shallow point with a small hole. A skin covers the plates around this point. Small round plates are attached to either side of the body with large iron ringlet attached. These connect to a twisted rope carrying strap. The strap is covered with plaited fabric along its central section. Skin is tensioned with twisted hide straps, which meet at a ring around the bottom. Similar hide is sewn around the edge of the skin. A pointed wooden stick, approx 195 mm long, is threaded through the hide straps near the skin. The two beaters are wooden and approx 380-390mm long, are slightly curved, and have grips carved into their upper ends.
