
Miniature melodeon, made in Kalbe, Germany, circa 1905. No serial number. Silver embossed label on front bellows frame: 'Victoria the Good, Edward VII, Kalbe's Imperial, Gold Medal Melbourne.' With full colour transfers of Victoria and Edward VII, metal bellows corners are embossed: 'Imperial Accordeon.' Decorative stop tops have an inset red ensign and the rear of the hand bar is embossed: 'The 20th Century Patent Action: Fabrik Marke,' with two wrapped anchors. The fancy bellows-securing clips are engraved: 'Goldene Statts Medaille Melbourne, DR Patent No. 58249.' 8.5" x 4.5" diameter metal edged black wood ends, metal corners, transfers on front. Right-hand: 10 one-piece metal plated key/pallet assemblies, each key opening a pair of pallets either side of the hand bar. Left-hand has 2 similar bass keys and 1 air valve. Seven-fold black leather cloth bellows, central fold thicker. Gold star papers.
