Taxidermy case of adult male and adult female European Goldfinch. According to Edward Hart, writing on 6 April 1927, 'Left (no 1); adult male, shot by Edward Hart, 1880, summer plumage; right (no 2) adult female, shot by Edward Hart, 1884, summer plumage, nest and five eggs. Both obtained near Christchurch. The male with white throat is known as a Cheveral and is much prized by bird-fanciers. Sexes alike, summer and winter plumage differs. Mounted by me'.
