Taxidermy case of three adult female and four adult male Great Spotted Woodpecker. According to Edward Hart, writing on 12 April 1927, 'Top left (no 1): adult female, April 1879; middle left (no 2): adult male, December 1873; bottom left (no 3): adult male, May 1876; middle (no 4): adult female, March 1870; top middle right (no 5): adult female, March 1879; top right (no 6): adult male, December 1880; bottom right (no 7): adult male, March 1888. All shot by me either at Haddon Hill or Grove Wood, Christchurch. Sexes differ; summer and winter plumage the same. Mounted by me'.
