Taxidermy case of five adult male and one adult female Ruff (one adult male in courting dress missing). According to Edward Hart, writing on 4 May 1927, 'Sexes differ in summer plumage, alike in winter plumage. Summer and winter plumage differ. Far left (no 1): adult male, May 1864, courting dress; (no 2): adult female, August 1875, autumn plumage; (no 3): adult male, July 1869, courting dress; (no 4): adult male, May 1879, courting dress; (no 5): adult male, December 1869, winter plumage; (no 6): adult male, July 3rd 1869, courting dress.
