Oval shield of plank-like manufacture, flat in the horizontal axis but curved in the vertical axis. This is the darkest of our Trobriand shields, with unusual painted decoration on the face. The design is spotted with a human face uppermost and more conventional concentric oval elements below. The colour is grayish overpainted with black and an uncharacteristically untidy application of red paint.
