charm box; amulet

Woman's amulet case, ga'u, in kerima or kidney-shaped form made of copper alloy containing two pieces of paper with inscription on both sides. Decorated with a metal setting in the form of a stylised lotus flower at the top and bottom. At the top is cylindrical loop formed of three segments. Below is a scroll shape of a three segments with a small loop below. There are two pieces of folded paper with inscriptions written in black ink.

Kerima’ or kidney form (see also 37.138i, nn3662 and nn3656). It looks late nineteenth century, although it may well be older.
