textile; textile (function unknown)

Rectangular twill-woven wool textile created by sewing plain coloured and patterned sections of fabric together. This creates a plain black X-shaped centre, surrounded by a patterned border, with the seam clearly delineated by yellow stitching. 4 buti-motifs extend from the border into the centre shape. The border surrounding this contains paired buti-motifs. On the shorter sides is a predominantly red border. The centre consists of linked medaillons containing small floral motifs, and is framed by undulating foliate bands. On the longer sides is a wider predominantly yellow border containing similar patterning. The shorter sides are finished with fringed edges created by a striped border sewn from black, cream, red, green and yellow sections of cloth of varying width. On the longer sides the whole textile is edged with green twill-woven ribbon.
