Backstrap for a loom. An irregularly shaped rectangle of very stiff, dark hide is attached at one end by a twisted length of hide to a bamboo stick. Originally part of large ethnographic collection accessioned under 19.5.48, but not fully numbered. Possibly related to/part of ribbon weaving loom 19.5.48/268 from Kashmir.
