Sample of yellow-cream coloured silk fibres, in a small rectangular cardboard box, along with two silk cocoons. The long silk fibres are knotted in the middle, to form the shape of a bow.

There is an inscription on the lid of the box which reads: 'Colonial and Indian Exhibition, / (LONDON 1886) / INDIAN SILK CULTURE COURT. / BENGAL SILK, / (reeled in the exhibition,) / AND / COCOONS.'
