textile fragment; textile

Coptic textile consisting of a tapestry-woven, cream and brown border fragment at the end of a tabby-woven cream-coloured linen fragment. The border is decorated with what appears to be a centre band patterned with brown deer against a cream ground. This is framed by a solid brown band, and a band of outward- facing loops (waves?). The cream-coloured section is decorated with regularly spaced narrow lines created by using 2 weft picks at the same time.
