box (containers)

Box made of wood, covered in black lacquer on the exterior and base. The exterior and base are densely decorated with butterflies, floral and fruit motifs with inlaid mother-of-pearl and semi-precious stones. Fitted with cloisonné mounts on each corner. The cloisonné mounts are decorated with a peony and scroll design against turquoise enamel background. There is a dull, red lacquer on the inner surface.
