Wooden box with a lacquered surface. The box has a hinged lid which opens up to reveal a shelf which runs across three sides. The shelf is divided into three compartments. One of the shelves slides forward to reveal a hidden compartment. The lock on the object is made of iron and copper alloy. The outer surface of the box is lacquered in red, gold and black. Kingfisher feathers have possibly been used to also decorate the surface. The decoration consists of a floral design and more abstract shapes. Label: one exhibition label with a red and black border. One label, possibly from an external exhibition. There is a label affixed to the lid with "2" printed on it.
