Rectangular lidded wooden box covered with papier-mâché with three compartments inside. The outer surfaces of the sides are hand painted with a fine black linear floral and bird pattern on a predominantly pale yellow ground with details in gold, red, green and blue. The base of the box is painted blue, with an old label attached, partly printed, reading: 'Papier mache on wood. Box. Kashmere. India'. The inner surface is painted dark blue.
