mace (club (weapons: bludgeon))

Iron mace with the horned head of a bull. This shape of this ceremonial mace refers to the heroic King Fereydun who was associated with oxen. Fereydun appears in Iran's national epic poem. The Shah's name and the way this mace evokes him is indicative of the surge of interest in national identity seen in Iran in the nineteenth century.
