Wooden constable's truncheon with smooth surface painted black with a red band at each end and red raised band above the handle, which is gently curved with a rounded end. Leather thong through aperture at end of handle. Yellow inscription on shaft reads 'W R IV', indicating that it was used during the reign of William IV, from 1830 -1837.
