folders (art)

The original folder, for 22 chromo-lithographed prints. The folder, or folio is made from 2 pieces of thick card which were once attached together with a black textile binding. There are thin black ribbons passing through the card on the three other edges which can be tied together. The edge binding has failed so the two pieces of card are now seperate. There is a label on the front of the folder which reads

"Art. Institut Orrel Füssli, Vertag, Zürich. Wandtafeln für Unterricht in Anthropologie, Ethnographie und Geographie herausgegeben von Dr. Rudolph Martin. Professor an der Universitat Zurich. Tafel 9 bis 16."
This text is then repeated in French.

A handwritten Horniman label has been added above this reading "Africa +Europe"
