Small textile fish kite (koi-nobori), fish scales printed black, green, red and white, attached to bamboo rod. Image of small boy, Kintarou, printed in red on the kite. Two fins on each side in lower par of fiish made of separate pieces of cloth sewn on. Paste eyes. Machine stitched. Red and white sun flag used by Japanese during time of war is attached to top of stick. Mouth formed by metal ring, to which a stick with a gold ball on top is attached by two strings. This short stick fits into hollow of bamboo rod. Stick: 457mm long; Fish: 430 long x 125 h. Small boys would run around with examples of this type of flag holding them in the air to fill them out.
