box (containers)

Circular box made from copper sheet with lid attached to the base at one side by two short chains. On the opposite side is a catch which slots over a loop on the base for locking. The lid is domed and has a curved cast handle on the top, the ends in the shape of dragon's heads. There is some very simple engraved line decoration in bands on the lid and base. A handwritten label adhering to the lid reads: 'Food Box. S. India'. However it is unlikely to be a box for food, which would be lined with tin, and the dragon heads especially mean that it is more reminiscent of boxes from Punjab or Kashmir.
