Afghan ‘Khyber knife'. The T-section single edge long blade is slightly recurved and chiselled overall with geometric ornament specific to Afghanistan. The grips are made from two pieces of bone. These weapons were carried thrust through a fabric sash around the waist, and whilst they clearly cannot be considered to be a normal ‘knife’, the name Khyber Knife was probably given to them by British forces during the 19th century.
